Reema Health is proud to announce that Vice President of Operations Cara Melvin has been named one of the Top Women Leaders in Healthcare Technology of 2025 by The Healthcare Technology Report.
The annual award recognizes outstanding leaders who are shaping the future of healthcare technology. Honorees include executives and innovators who are advancing digital health, improving patient services, and building solutions that address some of the healthcare system’s most complex challenges.
Cara was recognized for her leadership in scaling innovative, community-centered healthcare solutions that bridge the gap between clinical care and the social needs that shape health outcomes.
Driving Operational Excellence at Reema Health
As Vice President of Operations at Reema Health, Cara leads national operations across Care Delivery, Customer Success, Finance, IT, and People.
Her work focuses on building the operational infrastructure that powers Reema’s model of tech-enabled social needs navigation and virtual clinical mental health services. Through this model, Reema partners with health plans and community organizations to help individuals access critical resources such as housing support, food access, mental health care, and care coordination.
Cara plays a key role in ensuring that Reema’s technology and care model translate into real-world impact for communities that have historically faced barriers to accessing care.
Under her leadership, the organization continues to strengthen the systems that allow human-centered care to scale.
A Career Dedicated to Building Better Systems
Cara’s leadership approach is rooted in her training as a Macro Practice Social Worker. Her work consistently focuses on designing systems that work better for the people they are meant to serve.
She began her career leading housing programs for women living with severe mental illness and for young families experiencing homelessness. These roles gave her direct insight into the challenges individuals face when navigating fragmented healthcare and social service systems.
She later led the Social Services department at Hennepin Healthcare, Minneapolis’s safety-net health system and a Level 1 trauma center. In that role, she supervised 45 social workers and helped pioneer a care model that integrated population health strategies with social determinants of health.
Before joining Reema Health, Cara also served in a statewide leadership role with the Minnesota Judicial Branch. There, she led programming across all ten judicial districts with a focus on mental health, child welfare, and equity.
Each step in her career expanded her ability to translate complex social challenges into scalable, operational solutions.
Advancing the Future of Healthcare Technology
The recognition from The Healthcare Technology Report highlights the growing importance of leaders who can connect healthcare technology with real-world care delivery.
Technology alone does not improve outcomes. Systems must be designed to reach people where they are and address the broader factors that influence health.
Cara’s leadership at Reema Health reflects this approach. By strengthening the operational foundation behind Reema’s care model, she helps ensure that technology supports meaningful connections between individuals and the resources they need to thrive.
Education and Life Outside of Work
Cara holds a Master of Social Work in Macro Social Work from Boston University, where she focused on management and leadership, program design, and public policy. She also completed a Mini-MBA in Healthcare Administration from Rutgers University.
Outside of work, Cara enjoys wilderness adventures with her family, tending to her tomato garden, and exploring the Minneapolis art scene.
